This peer-reviewed publication outlines the regulatory landscape for dental implants in Australia and New Zealand and details the development of the Dental Implant Registry (DIR) as an independent, ethically governed solution.

Co-authored by DIR’s Chief Investigator Dr Steve Soukoulis, along with Dr Scott Davis and Professor Alastair Goss, the paper highlights the need for long-term monitoring of implantable devices, improved patient transparency.

 

To ensure stronger alignment with TGA requirements, the paaper advocates for the implementation of Patient Implant Cards to enhance patient communication and traceability.
